I've made a goal of building myself a fixed gear bicycle in the next year, which has been something that's been sitting in the back of my mind as a goal for a couple years. I can finally see it possibly coming to fruition, or at least I've made the decision to start taking it a bit seriously. So I'm officially looking for bits and pieces this winter, hopefully with some help from friends in the know. In the meantime, I've spent much of my weekend looking at fixie pics online and at most bike shops around the city accompanying my brother Iain on his quest for a new bike....
Yesterday afternoon it was pouring rain here in Vancouver… It’s August. Where is my sun?! It did mean I got to go running on the Pacific Spirit Park trails, stomping through mud puddles and coming out completely filthy and soaking wet. So awesome! I definitely missed my puddle stomping compatriot Amy. Alas, she and M. Cactus are on a well-deserved honeymoon in the Okanagan eating fresh scones and riding the Ironman Canada course. Such a tough life!
Last night I met up with my dad and brother for a nice run on the trails in Pacific Spirit Park. I have missed running on these trails all summer. It's so wonderful to be back. I ran with Iain and Dad for a warm-up before heading off to do some tempo intervals. We are just cruising along minding our own business when a large unidentified bug flies into me, bounces off my neck and OW!! To my surprise it stung me!!
